I don’t use Perfect Dark and ain’t the expert on it but would you consider using it to get raws, just perhaps it would work? If you have a good net and a bit of disk space to spare you can give it a try.
I’ve used PerfectDark and Share before.
The raws that are on there is the same ones that [Zero-Raws] and [Leopard-Raws] use.
If I wanted to use those, I could just grab them from them.
Well, I had no idea so thanks for the education:). I also had no idea a capper’s position was so vital. I can’t believe there are pre-encoded raws even on PD and Share. Is the capper only guy on the planet who gets the .ts files just as you need them? Can you point me in the way of some info about the difference in quality between them .ts and encoded raws? I’d appreciate it.
@Kyuzo_dono: The .ts file (transport stream) is the uncompressed file that the capper gets directly from his capturing device after he’s recorded it from the TV.
The .ts is usually around 2.5gb in filesize, and has a resolution of 1440×1080 or something like that. This file also has all the commercials etc inbetween the program.
This is the file that is later encoded into a raw for use with fansub by the encoder.
Things like cutting out the commercials, re-sizing it to 1280×720, apply some deinterlacing and some anti-aliasing filters among other things, then set a bitrate and compress it.
Evidently, the .ts has MUCH higher quality than any finished fansubbed release.
But it would make no sense to fansub on a 2.5gb uncompressed stream and release that
Thus, the compression.
This is basically what all fansubbers who has access to the .ts do.

There might be .ts files on both PerfectDark and Share though, but if there is, it just means they’ve been uploaded and shared by a capper that is physically in Japan ^^
@Kyuubi: about that .ts only being available directly in Japan – are there any Asian region satellite providers (or some other medium) that would let one grab a like-quality transport stream? I know that’d leave you still recruiting in the region, but…just curious.
Or is Japanese TV a state-run (or -affiliated) enterprise, kinda like the BBC, and that’s why you can’t get “native” stuff in raw form elsewhere?

intelligent : wrong dude.. encode can be even better than the ts file quality if you do all the stuff right ^_^.
